Vaginal Rejuvenation – Is it Right for You?
When women undergo the natural process of childbirth, the muscles and tissues of the vagina, vulva, and labia all stretch. These and similar changes such as aging, or fluctuation in weight, can have a negative impact on sexual intimacy. Women can experience decreased sensation, pain, or soreness during sex. Some women experience irritability while riding bicycles, horses, or other high-impact exercises.
Vaginal rejuvenation aims to improve the size, function, appearance, and reduce pain- related issues in female genitalia. This procedure reduces, reshapes, or tightens female genital tissues to help restore a firmer tone and/or a more youthful, symmetrical appearance.
How Can Vaginal Rejuvenation Help Me?
Women who have an overly large, or sagging labia can experience considerable discomfort when wearing certain clothing or exercising, as well as negatively impact a woman’s self confidence. Following childbirth or menopause, loss of vaginal tone can lead to incontinence, vaginal dryness, and painful/uncomfortable sexual intercourse.
All of these issues can be addressed by restoring a more normal tone and appearance of the vagina and labia. Our double board-certified vaginal rejuvenation experts can achieve one or more of the following with vaginal rejuvenation procedures:
- Reduce/eliminate stress urinary incontinence
- Help tight clothing/swimsuits fit more comfortably
- Alleviate vaginal dryness
- Restore sensation
- Improve outward cosmetic aesthetics of vagina
After Vaginal Rejuvenation
After vaginal rejuvenation, women can expect to use ice packs to reduce the swelling for the first 24-48 hours. Wearing loose clothing is highly recommended, and routine everyday activity is permitted. Women need to avoid baths, hot tubs, and pools for four weeks post-surgery. Most patients can return to work after about a week unless the nature of the work involves strenuous activity. Depending on the procedure and how well the patient takes care of themselves, most can resume sexual intercourse within 8 weeks of their surgery.
